Greece 03: Mykonos-Delos

Day o6 - Thurs 15 May 08 - Mykonos
The day Rayvees wore a blue polo tee and became everyone's favourite photo-model for Mykonos.

Sipping hot chocolate on board the Flying Cat to our first Greek Island - Mykonos!

While planning our trip, we decided to focus on the Cyclades Islands, located in the central and southern part of the Aegean Sea and is made up of 39 islands, 24 of which are inhabited, including Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Delos, Ios, Kea, Kimolos, Folegandros, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, Serifos, Sikinos, Sifnos, Syros and Tinos.

Teik feeling suddenly inspired to churn out lyrics - impressive or so i thought for a minute - until i realised he was recalling lyrics to a cheer chen song.

Hotel Lefteris as recommended by Lonely Planet was great - i think it was 70 euros for a Quad complete with friendly owner and rooftop terrace where we would sip tea later at night.

Lunch at one of the tavernas near Taxi Square where we met a group of Malaysian UOB bankers on a sponsored company retreat. Tell me again, what perks do architects enjoy?

I miss my Scooter-doggy! Cute affectionate doggie at ferry travel agency where we were enquiring about ferry schedules to Santorini.

Random sights that make Mykonos Mykonos. White walls and blue dome-roofs and blue window shutters and gates.

Love the pretty fonts and hand-drawn signages! Just what i need to be surrounded by on a daily basis! :)

Strolled along the coast of Mykonos and watched the seagulls fly in the blue skies against a backdrop of tumbling white houses.

Church of Panagia Paraportiani, which consists of 5 small white churches.

Took an afternoon siesta with iced coffee in the sun by the Aegean Sea with views to the windmills further south of the waterfront.

After coffee we took a leisurely stroll by the waterfront up to the windmills.

Quite cute lah but i wonder if they actually serve any purpose.

More of what Mykonos is made up of - feels remotely like a cross between Venice and Toyland.

More chit-chatting time over tea at the roof terrace courtesy of our friendly hotel owner who boiled water for us and asked us to help ourselves to his kitchen and teabags. This time we talked about assorted business ideas, something we've talked about for ages but never quite got around to putting any into action haha!

Headed out at 10pm to check out the clubbing scene but for some strange reason most of the clubs and bars were empty except for one which looked promising until we realised it was a gay club and this burly looking guy was hot on the heels of Rayvees haha.

Felt a little hungry so got myself a ham & cheese crepe for supper. It was yummylicious!

Our room in Hotel Lefteris. Why do i feel like i'm in the house of Goldilocks and the 3 bears?

Was delightfully tickled by this extra window panel at the door. It's almost like a doll's house!

Loved the pretty tiles in our toilet.

Day o7 - Fri 16 May 08 - Delos
The day where sunset and champagne went together like peas and carrots.

Customary picture outside our hotel except that we kinda blocked the signage and most of the entrance.

Farewell picture with our friendly hotel owner.

Club sandwich and Greek coffee for breakfast!

On board the ferry for a half-day trip to Delos, which was a world-heritage site, and also the mythical birthplace of twins Apollo and Artemis.

Archaelogical sites in Delos, minus the sunbathing cat, include the Temple of Apollo, Temple of Artemis, Terrace of the Lions, the Lake House, Stoa of Poseidon and the Theatre.

Delos had the prettiest wild flowers although it also had lots and lots of creepy lizards, both big and small, popping their heads out of crevices of the stone walls and scurrying along the tops of low walls and benches.

Left Delos on the 12.15pm ferry back to Mykonos, just in time for a quick gyros lunch before catching our 2.45pm ferry to Santorini.

True to its legend, we were greeted with or should i say, bade farewell with a pink pelican preening itself by the water fountain near the Delos ferry port in Mykonos.

Waiting by the chaotic Mykonos Port to board our high-speed ferry to Santorini. The chaos has been deleted from the pictures above but trust me it was very chaotic.

next: Santorini
