melbourne-tasmania. may 1997

A few of us decided to get together for a trip to Melbourne-Tasmania after our first year in university. I think this was my first real trip with friends and it was kinda really nice. We rented a car and drove around which i thought was one of the best things of this trip! We could stop whenever we liked and stay in a place longer if we really liked it, thanks to our default driver, Melvin :)

Tasmania, Penny Royal - this cosy cottage-like place was so charming and the little loft we stayed in was a steal, complete with 3 bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen, which we actually used to cook on our last day in Tasmania. I think it was the girls who whipped up a meal, while the guys erm, i don't remember what they did.

Melvin and Teik Guan on the chairlift at Cataract Gorge

i think this was still at Cataract Gorge. I remember there were lots of autumn leaves scattered all around. It was all so pretty.

Lynn and Teik attempting to create the illusion of falling autumn leaves.

Batman Bridge near Brady's Lookout

I think this was a private pier that we somehow chanced upon and everything about it was very scenic.

1872 Holy Trinity Catholic Church. We stopped here cos the church looked really nice as we were drivng past.

Cradle Mountain was so peaceful and tranquil we could have had a picnic here or something.

Evandale Weekend Market where i bought a scruffy looking teddy bear and an antique looking glass jar, which is still sitting on my dresser.

i really love the vastness of this meadow.

Eating out of the car was i thought, one of the memorable things we did on this trip.

St Andrew's Anglican Church

Liffey Falls where i freezed my nose off. or should it be froze?

The Grampians - one of my favourite places of the trip! I heard they've cordoned off this place since.

i c a n n o t believe we actually did this!!

Terrence joined us at Grampians so we took a group photo here :)

It was so cold i found it hard to appreciate the 12 Apostles but i enjoyed the drive along Great Ocean Road, of course, spoken from a backseater haha. On our way back it got dark sooner than we expected and visibility was so bad we could hardly see the vehicle just ahead of us. and i'm sorry to say that i think we hit a walluby. Poor kiddo... sniff sniff.

St Kilda's Pier was quite nice too.

Lynn had to cut short her trip and we met up with my old friend, Sabrina, who brought us to this place, i forgot what its called. Was it The Crypt?

Mock chess game after pancake breakfast with Sabrina in all seriousness except we couldn't stop giggling.

Nice street furniture for my tired legs.

Hung out with doctor-in-the-making-then Elaine and Terrence at her hostel and around Melbourne City.

Featuring Travel Buddies: Lynn, TeikGuan, Melvin, Terrence. With special Down Under appearances by Elaine & Sabrina
