italy. sep 2005

continued from Prague...

Vienna
29 Aug 2005 - We took the EC train from Praha hl.n to Vienna's Wien Sudbahnhof and spent the afternoon in Vienna while waiting in transit for our overnight train to Venice.
Sleeper Train from Vienna's Wien Westbahnhof to Venice's Venezia S. Lucia

Venice

30 Aug 2005 - Checked into Albergo Marin Hotel in Venice which was run by this friendly man in his 40s perhaps. Venice is very touristy and feels a little unreal like we're in some sort of setting for a play or something. But its nice to walk along bridges and have gondolas go past in the waters below you. Oh and the gelatos. Nice.

On board the ferry to Murano and Burano, two lagoons off Venice which proved equally touristy.

1 Sep 2005 - Arrived via Intercity Train from Venezia Santa Lucia to Firenze Santa Maria Novella and walked to Hotel Sampaoli. Think Michael mentioned something about Florence feeling a bit like Penang.

4 Sep 2005 - Day Trip to Pisa via Intercity Train from Firenze Santa Maria Novella to Pisa Centrale and walked down this long street leading to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Of course along the way we stopped for ice-cream. Rome

4 Sep 05 - Took another Intercity Train on the same day out of Pisa Centrale to Roma Termini and checked into Freedom Traveller Hostel. I liked Rome for its rich history and all its piazzas.

8 Sep 2005 - Took Easyjet from Rome Ciampino to London Gatwick and for some reason i can't recall now, i don't seem to have any photos of the 2 days we spent in London before he heads back to Bristol and i head home to Singapore, so i guess i'll leave you with this parting shot taken in Rome.
